Dear Joyful Leader,

Guidance is an ongoing and ever-evolving relationship between Joy Guide and Client. Guidance in Joy provides a structure that facilitates the process of personal, professional, and spiritual development. Both the Client and Guide agree that the relationship and focus will be co-created and held accountable together. It is important to note that guidance is not therapy, and guided engagements will explicitly avoid engaging in the practice of psychotherapy. If issues arise that are best dealt with in a therapeutic context, we will refer you to appropriately trained, professional, and licensed therapists.

OUR APPROACH

We are in joy at the prospect of working with you. Each guide’s particular style may result in greater or lesser utilization of the following tools and methodologies: assessments (some may require an additional fee), asking the right questions, listening carefully to what you share, assisting you in clarifying your goals, identifying your resources (experiences of joy, identity, and personal qualities), helping you to overcome your perceived barriers to success, helping you to identify your personal standards for success, ensuring that you develop a high degree of self-care, and developing a model of accountability that works best for you. While there will always be differences between Guides, each has been trained in The Big Joy Theory’s model of joy-based personal and leadership development and will utilize a step-by-step strategy designed to aid you in continually evaluating your progress toward a life informed by joy. We believe that each client is a uniquely talented individual who must be accountable for defining their goals and dreams, and is ultimately responsible for moving their own life forward. It is our role to aid, assist, hold accountable, and provide guidance as needed and as directed by you and your wisdom.

The information that you share with your guide will remain confidential unless you provide specific permission to release the information or if your guide is required by law to release information. These exceptions to confidentiality will be discussed with you as needed. Guidance usually leads to significant improvements and many changes in one’s life. The pros and cons of guidance, as well as the broader implications of any changes, can be discussed throughout the process, as appropriate.

SCHEDULING

Clients will be responsible for scheduling phone and/or in-person sessions online at https://bigjoytheory.com/schedule. Once a time is established, it will be reserved for you. If you provide appropriate contact information when scheduling, a reminder will be sent to you approximately one day and one hour before the start of each session. At the scheduled appointment time, Client agrees to initiate communication with the Joy Guide following any and all instructions provided through the online scheduling system or otherwise previously agreed to methodology. In the event Client is more than 15 minutes late for a session, their Joy Guide will assume the session is cancelled and Client will forfeit any and all session fees. All fees are listed online. Fees are based on a 60-minute appointment. Between sessions, Client may email their Joy Guide with brief updates and quick questions as appropriate at no additional cost. Excessive use of such communication may result in additional fees and will be discussed with Client before being levied.

CANCELLATIONS

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide 24-hour notice. Failure to appear for a session or provide at least 24-hour notice of cancellation or desire to reschedule will result in a full charge for the originally scheduled time.

PAYMENT

Unless other arrangements have been made directly with your Joy Guide, all payments are to be made through the online scheduling system. Payment can be made at the time of scheduling, before, or after completion of each session.  Please speak with your Joy Guide directly if any special payment arrangements need to be made.
